Composite Bonding

Composite bonding is a cosmetic procedure that uses composite resin material to improve the appearance of teeth. It is an effective treatment to fix broken, cracked, chipped, decayed, gapped and discolored teeth.

Composite bonding is the ideal option for minor dental imperfections. Composite bonding is a painless, non-invasive and reversible procedure. It is fast and has no recovery time. For larger defects where composite bonding is not sufficient, the alternative of dental veneers should be considered.

Composite resin is a durable material made of a mixture of glass and plastic. It contains pigments compatible with natural tooth color. In this way, it can perfectly match the color of the tooth itself.

Unlike other methods used in cosmetic dentistry, there is no need to cut the teeth. It is enough to slightly abrade the surface layer of the tooth so that it becomes rough. A special solution is used for this. This preparation process increases the bonding strength of the resin to the tooth.

After the preparation, the resin is applied to the natural tooth and shaped. After that, it is hardened using blue light. The process is completed by restoring the resin to its natural shine.
Composite bonding lasts for an average of 5 years, depending on where it is applied and how it is used. Avoiding harmful actions such as biting hard foods, chewing hard objects, biting nails, grinding teeth is effective in extending the life of the composite. Foods that damage the teeth and may leave stains should be avoided.

There is no special care for teeth with composite bonding. It is enough to maintain the routine of brushing and flossing.

Composite bonding has a lower cost than dental veneers. It is usually completed in one or a few appointments. The cost and duration of composite bonding varies depending on how much repair is needed.

Composite bonding is mostly applied to the upper front teeth. In some cases, composite bonding can also be applied to the lower teeth.

If teeth whitening is planned, it should be done before composite bonding. Because teeth whitening has no effect on the composite material.

Composite bonding is a dental treatment used to mask dental defects. It makes it possible to repair the tooth both cosmetically and functionally. Composite bonding has become a popular treatment option for patients who want to improve their smile and overall appearance.
