Dental Crowns

Dental crowns are a perfect option to restore a compromised tooth to its full potential

Time Scale: 4-6 days

Dental Crowns are the best option for fully covering a tooth. Crowns are recommended to cover teeth that are damaged, broken or worn down. Crowns can also be used in minor construction treatments i.e. crooked teeth. They can be sculptured to match your existing teeth. They have a longer lifespan than other dental treatments such as lumineers. Crowns can be made to look like the size and colour of the surrounding teeth. Dental Crowns will also protect your tooth underneath, preserving your natural tooth and gums for a longer period of time.

Porcelain-Fused Metal Crowns (PFM)

Porcelain-Fused Metal Crowns also known as PFM are a combination of porcelain and metal. They are durable but not suitable for everyone or every position in the mouth. These crowns are very strong and they will strengthen the tooth that it is covering. The only problem with PFM is if your gums recede, which will make a dark line visible where the crown meets the gums. PFM needs to be replaced every 6-8 years to keep your gums healthy. Crowns are best used for the back or side teeth implants on the other hand would be a better choice for the front teeth for a better smile line.

Zirconium Crowns

Zirconia crowns are made from Zirconium Dioxide, which is very durable and good-looking. Zirconia crowns consist of a pure white metal core with porcelain fused to the outside which makes them look more like the natural teeth. Because these crowns are made of a white metal they don’t produce the black gum line if your gums recede in time. The crown will always look white and natural at the gum line. These crowns are also a healthier option because they do not contain any nickel like PFM crowns do. These crowns can also be used for the front teeth because of their continued whiteness.
