You can choose from a few different options to close a gap where a single tooth or a number of teeth are missing. One of the best and quickest ways to fill a gap is by having a dental bridge done. As the name suggests, a dental bridge is a bridge of teeth that are anchored to the healthy teeth adjacent to the gap. Unlike normal dentures a dental bridge is a permanent fixture. As a general rule, it is better to have a single implant implemented if you have only one tooth missing. If you have two -or more- teeth missing next to each other and you do not want to have a double implant then you will need a 4-tooth dental bridge. So the rule of thumb is what ever the number of missing teeth in the gap, a tooth has to be added to the either end of the gap of the bridge on to your natural teeth.
A dental bridge is a fixed feature and will function just like your natural teeth. You will not have any problems with eating or speaking. The materials we use are Porcelain Fused Metal (PFM) Crowns or Zirconia Porcelain Crowns. Our laboratories use only the best materials.
Porcelain veneers are a little more expensive but highly durable. Porcelain veneers normally last between 10-15 years but with correct care they can last up to 20 years. To achieve a firm grip with the Porcelain veneers the tooth/teeth has to be grind away than other types of veneers.
Porcelain veneers are stain resistant but you still need to brush and floss just like you would with your natural teeth.
Lumineers are the highly durable version of the veneers but they are much thinner and translucent. There is no need to grind the teeth/tooth down because they are applied to the front surface of your tooth/teeth. With them being so thin you can still see your natural tooth color underneath. With the right care Lumineers can last for 20 years and more.
Lumineers are stain resistant but you still need to brush and floss just like you would with natural teeth.
Composite veneers are a cheaper option and can be applied quicker. They are a quick fix for that perfect looking smile but they stain easier and only last for about 5 years.
Composite veneers are not as stain resistant as porcelain veneers. You need to brush and floss just like you would with natural teeth.
